Slackline

What is a slackline?

The slackline is a balancing sport that involves walking or performing acrobatic tricks on an elastic strap stretched between two anchor points. The webbing, similar to an abseiling strap, is fixed to the ground, between trees or at other stable points, creating a narrow, flexible surface over which the participants move. This sport requires intense concentration, good balance and coordination to maintain stability while moving or performing artistic movements on the strap.

How do I use a slackline?

To use a slackline, start by stretching the elastic strap between two stable anchor points. Position the strap at a low height for beginners. To get on the slackline, stand up next to the strap, then place one foot in the middle, keeping the other foot on the ground to maintain balance. Use your arms to stabilise and adjust your centre of gravity. Keep your gaze fixed on a point on the horizon to maintain balance, then start walking slowly, swinging your arms to control your movement. Practise regularly to improve your balance, concentration and slackline skills.
