What is table tennis?

Table tennis, also known as “ping-pong”, is a racket sport played by two or four players around a table. It has been both a leisure activity and an Olympic sport since 1988.

How do you play table tennis?

Table tennis pits two or four players, each with a racket, on either side of a table separated by a net. The aim is to return the ball to the opposing half to score points. A point is scored if the opponent fails to return the ball, lets it bounce more than once on his side, prevents the ball from bouncing on his own half of the table (obstruction), returns it after hitting an obstacle (except the net posts), or uses something other than the racket to return it. A set is won by the first player to score 11 points, at least 2 points ahead of his opponent (Example: 11-9, 11-3 etc.). If a player is only one point ahead, the end continues until there is a 2-point difference (Example: 12-10, 15-13 etc.). The first player to win the required number of ends wins the game.
